I'm into crafting, and have way too many UFO'S, and WIP's to list. I thought I'd try this out, to see if it would help me get some of them finished.

So, here is some information on the afghan.
I am using Ashford Tekapo 8 ply wool. I am using 5 mm needles, because I am a tight knitter and with the cables in the pattern, I want a slightly looser fabric.
383 stitches, and the patterns I am using are

I am using two colours. But can't show a picture of the second colour yet, as I have it on order. Will put up pictures when I have both colours.
I have no idea how much yarn it is going to take, that is part of the adventure. 😉
Picture
I said I would post a picture of the afghan. Here it is. I can't spread the stitches out, because my needle isn't long enough.
Long time, no see
But I am here for now. It is 3:56am, here in New Zealand, and the RWC is on. We are watching the Canada/Italy game at the moment. The two I really want to see are South Africa/Samoa, and England/Wales. I feel sorry for the Samoans, what with SA coming off their shock loss to Japan.
Anyway, I have designed an Afghan. It is going to be called New Beginnings. I have no pictures, yet, but will post them as I progress. I have never done this before, so it is an adventure. I am knitting this for my beautiful younger sister, and she got naming rights. She has no idea of the patterns I have picked, and not seen the colour, either.

Busy day
It was a rather busy day at work today. Doesn't help that my knee is really sore. Think I must have twisted it the other day, and it has had enough.
I am feeling torn between the two projects that I am working on.I know I want to get Nigel's garment finished, but there is a blanket that I have started, and it is also calling me. So, I am thinking that I could do one day on Nigel's, and the next day o the blanket.

Hello strangers
Hello again, and for the first time this year. Hope everyone is well. Although, I am probably talking to myself, here. No problems there, I can still post.
On the knitting front, I have a few things on the needles - when don't I? But, the item I am concentrating on is the jacket for Nigel. I am determined to get it finished this winter. I should, as I only have one front to complete, then the front bands, which are picked up and knitted on. Then there is the shawl collar, and the buttons. The sewing up shouldn't take too long.
Then I can work on the lace shawl I have going.

Spoilt by husband
I am so spoilt by my husband sometimes - actually, most of the time, really. He bought me a bracelet today that I was only looking at prices for. I served a customer that was wearing one of these, and asked her where she got it. I really liked them. I told my husband about them, and asked him if he could go price them for me, I knew they came as a set. Well . . . he went and bought them for me!!! Aren't I the lucky one?!? It is a set of two, with what looks like measurements on them - like a tape measure, but on a bracelet. One is fatter than the other, and I really like them.

First FO of the year
I have actually finished something this year. Not a very big thing, a square - from a dishcloth patter - that is going to be part of an ongoing project. I have a plan in mind, but it will be in progress for at least the rest of this year. The next project I am working on is a shawl that I started when my daughter (Natasha) was pregnant with William. I figure it is time I got that off the needles, I've only been working on it for over a year!! Having said that, it's not been worked on solidly, I did digress and work on other things. In fact, it languished for quite some time; but, no more!!! I have most of it done, the edging isn't going to make me happy, I am not keen on doing edging's separately, but prefer them knitted on. Ah well, the things we do, LOL

Rain, rain, rain!!!
It has been raining so much these last few days. My husband got stuck at work, he wasn't able to make it home, after doing a 12hour shift, due to the road having flooding. He finally got home at about 11am. The sun did make an appearance today, which was really nice, but the river in town is up quite high. Our section had so much water on it, I don't think it can take anymore.
Now I also have hayfever!!! Making my nose itchy, my eyes itchy, and I'm sneezing quite a lot. At least it's not asthma, don't want that again.
These are the latest pictures of my handsome grandsons. William is the red-head - isn't he cute. I love his hair colour. To think he is nearly one year old already!!! Noah is nearly six months old. He looks just like his dad - my son - did at that age. So like father, like son!!

Man flu'
It struck this weekend. Husband came home from work on Friday with it. He spent all day Saturday in bed with it. Upon only giving a cup of soup for lunch, he decided on Sunday that he could get out of bed. He has a cold - but the male version of the cold - so that means he is really not well. Why don't we females get our version of 'man flu'? I know we do - it's called continuing our work, and not going to bed, even if we really need to. To much to do, not enough time to do it.
Am on a bootee knitting time at the moment. Have a handsome grandson that needs them. As it is starting to get cold down there in Christchurch, I need to get cracking on them. Already have three pair made, don't know how many I will make. I really want to make the 'Bigger on the Inside' shawl that it currently up on Knitty. I am a Dr Who fan, and this looks just what I need to make next. Maybe I can make this my last pair of bootees, and start the shawl? Hey it works for me!! I have some blue wool I can use, too. Should do the job just nicely.

Glad today is over...
...at least where work is concerned. After three days of stocktake, I am seriously over it. At least I was able to get it completed, though. Thank goodness. Wouldn't have been able to without the help of one of my work colleagues, though. She was very helpful.
Now to work out what I am going to knit. Am bored with all the things I currently have on the needles, which is bad I know. I am not supposed to start something new, but I can hear shawls calling out to me. Don't know which one just yet, but I know it's there.

Long time no post
Cripes, has it been that long since I last posted here?!?!? Wow, time goes fast!!!
I am now a grandmother, of a really cute grandson. Will be again in a couple of weeks, too, with second grandson due then.
Been not very busy on the knitting front, lost a little interest. Need to get back in to it. Especially with two little ones to knit for. Am trying really hard to get things finished that have been on the needles for quite some time. That is an ongoing issue with me. Will be all the time, I think. Too many nice patterns to do, and not any where enough time to do them all. Stash isn't really shrinking, though. You'd think it would after all this time. I am quite convinced that it grows all by itself.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
